Belle Vue Zoo Park Manchester, 1976

Memories of the fondly remembered Belle Vue Zoological Gardens and Amusement Park in Manchester. This 16mm colour footage is mostly from the summer season 1976. The Zoo closed the following year, at the end of the summer season 1977. This was the beginning of the end for Belle Vue, and within four years virtually everything on the site had closed. Today the site is given over mainly to housing, and there are few clues to its glorious past. I first uploaded this video to YouTube on 11 January 2007.
