October 1, 2004 Report. First application of the "Plead Guilty" procedure at the Saint-Étienne court. This procedure allows for reduced sentences for defendants who confess. The arraignment hearings of two motorists convicted of a traffic violation were filmed. Commentary on factual footage of the hearings alternates with interviews with Maître Isabelle Grenier Duchene, Paul Michel, public prosecutor in Saint-Étienne, and Roland Cuer, president of the criminal court, on how this measure works.
