Santifícalos en Tu Verdad

In the preceding verses, Jesus asked the Father to protect his people from evil while they remained in the world. Now, in verses 17-19, that same request is deepened. It is no longer just protection he asks for—it is transformation. Not only that they not be swept away by the world, but that they be actively molded by something more powerful than the world: the truth of God. “Sanctify them in your truth.” It is a brief request. Six words in English. But it contains one of the richest and most practical teachings in the entire New Testament about how God works in the lives of his children. To understand it well, we need to consider three things the text reveals: what sanctification is and how the Word brings it about, what purpose God sanctifies us for, and on what foundation all our sanctification rests.
