Narzissmus – Wie diagnostiziere ich als Psychotherapeut eine narzisstische Störung.

In the following video, I, as a psychotherapist, describe how I use and diagnose narcissism. Narcissism is a big topic on YouTube and across social media. The disorder itself is a residual category in the German ICD-10 diagnostic manuals. It is not frequently used. This is primarily because narcissism is a psychoanalytic concept, and this concept has often been criticized for its lack of diagnostic precision. Nevertheless, in the following video, I demonstrate how I, as a treating professional, diagnose patients or relatives of people with narcissistic disorders. First, the characteristic of exploitative relationship building is presented. Narcissistic individuals are always prone to exploitative behavior. I describe these behaviors in more detail in the video, especially emotional and economic exploitation. I also describe a lack of empathy as another core characteristic and a good indicator of the severity of a narcissistic disorder. I explore the lack of empathy in more detail in the video as a core feature of all mental disorders. Towards the end of the video, I also explore narcissistic grandiosity, the need to be perceived as grand, as well as the tremendous narcissistic rage that predominates in narcissists when they are offended.
