Recipe below: PEROGIE CHEESE CASSEROLE WITH BACON AND ONIONS 2 lbs. frozen pyerogies 4 to 6 slices bacon 3 cups onions sliced 3 tablespoons peanut oil (or other cooking oil) 1 cup sour cream 3/4 cup cream or milk 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon black pepper 1/2 to 1 stick butter 1 tablespoon thyme (or other spices) 1 cup old cheddar cheese (or other cheese) 1 cup mozzarella cheese (or other cheese) Cooking Instruction: In a large pot, bring water to boil. Add frozen perogies. Perogies will float to the surface. Put perogies in strainer and rinse in cold water. In a frying pan, grill bacon. Add cooking oil on one side of pan. Grill onions. Add sour cream, cream, salt, pepper, butter and thyme. Grease a casserole dish with cooking oil to prevent sticking. Add perogies evenly in pan. Pour sauce over the pyrogies. Cover casserole dish with a lid or tin foil. Bake in oven at 400 degrees F (204 degrees C) for 20 to 30 minutes. Pull out and remove lid or tin foil. Spread cheese evenly over the perogies. Set broiler on high heat. Put casserole dish back in oven and broil for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove perogie casserole from oven and let cool off for 10 minutes before serving.
