VVS Laxman has slammed Greg Chappell for his divide-and-rule policy when the Australian was coach of Team India from 2005-2007. Reacting to a series of allegations Sachin Tendulkar has made in his soon-to-be-published autobiography, Laxman said Chappell's policies were stifling and detrimental to the progress of the team. Personally for him, Laxman had his worst phase under Chappell. Must against his wishes, Laxman was asked to open the innings or face the consequences.
