"dancing in the streets" - How Raith Rovers won the Coca-Cola Cup
Raith Rovers Football Club was founded in 1883. Never in the succeeding 111 years had a major trophy been won - and the club had appeared in only one final, the League Cup Final of 1949 when they were beaten 2-0 by Rangers. This is the dramatic inside story of the club's first trophy success, The Coca-Cola Cup of 1994. The campaign began in Dingwall against Ross County, moved to Stark's Park where Kilmarnock were conquered, to Perth where St. Johnstone were overcome, and back to McDiarmid Park for an unforgettable semi final against Airdrie with a seventeen year old hero called Brian Potter. That set up the biggest match in the club's history, the final against Celtic at Ibrox. Led by Northern Ireland international Jimmy Nicholl, Raith Rovers triumphed in incredible, emotional circumstances, that sparked off "dancing in the streets" - not of Raith, but of Kirkcaldy! It's the human story of a fairytale coming true.
