Short on Fabric and Time? Try THIS 1911 Skirt, Drafted & Sewn in Under 2 Days from 1 Yard of Fabric!
Historical costuming can take a HUGE amount of fabric, time and money. So what do you do if you are short on... well, all of that? Skip the walking skirt and fast-forward to the Edwardian Era (1911, in our case) and modify a simple, 5 gored skirt pattern to fit your 1.25 yards of fabric, then add some flair with a fancy yolk, some leather covered buttons, and ✨fancy pockets✨ Don't worry, I also have some regular pockets in there, and they're absolutely HUGE. So this historical (ish) skirt has: flat piping as trim, black buttons, black hem trim, FOUR pockets of more than ample size, and a flattering V-shaped yoke. What more could you ask for in a history-bounding skirt? Well, I mean, ideally a bit more volume and a longer hemline, but the whole point is that we're working with limited fabric yardage here... IF YOU are interested in historybounding, or even straight up historical costuming, and the Victorian and/or Edwardian era is for you, then this skirt might be exactly what you're looking for! If you are interested in more detailed instructions on how to draft this skirt specifically, please let me know down in the comments. Maybe we can do a draft-along or a sew-along, a historybounding skirt workshop, something along those lines! — Giant Pocket Pattern: http://bikesandbloomers.com/staff-ite... ------------- VIDEOS MENTIONED: -- Embroidered Hobbit Capelet from a FREE Pattern + Fancy Seam Finishes: • Embroidered Hobbit Capelet from a FREE Pat... -- IKEA Hack + Recycling = The ULTIMATE Sewing Table with TONS of Storage for $0 (well, almost): • IKEA Hack + Recycling = The ULTIMATE Sewin... -- The GIANT Fabric Warehouse You've Never Heard Of: Tour & Fabric Haul: • The GIANT Fabric Warehouse You've Never He... -- 1940s Riding Breeches: Drafting Trials & Tribulations: • 1940s Riding Breeches: Drafting Trials & T... -- Tacky Cuban Pete goes #GunneSaxoween // Humorous Halloween Handiwork: • Tacky Cuban Pete goes #GunneSaxoween // Hu... -- 1890s Bicycle Bloomers: FREE PATTERN MAKE & REVIEW: • 1890s Bicycle Bloomers: FREE PATTERN MAKE ... ------------- Support the channel and become a monthly Ko-fi supporter for behind-the-scenes updates, closer looks at sources cited, monthly vlogs, bonus corgi content, and more! https://ko-fi.com/shannonmakes ------- ☕ Support the channel: https://ko-fi.com/shannonmakes 📸 The 'Gram: / making.seams.meet -------
