Ram 1500 Limited Hood Light Strip - 79 Inch Exterior LED Strip Lights.

Installing LED lights on the hood of my 2021 Ram 1500. First, pop the hood and locate a flat surface along the inner edge for mounting. Clean the area thoroughly to ensure adhesion. Measure and fit, then secure them with adhesive strip. Connect the wires to the LED controller, routing them neatly along the hood’s underside using zip ties to avoid loose dangling. Tap into the fuse box for power, ideally linking to an accessory circuit that activates with the ignition. Test the lights, adjust brightness or colors if your kit allows, and double-check that the hood closes without pinching wires. It’s a sleek upgrade that’ll make your Ram pop at night! Tools & Materials You’ll Need • Hood LED light strip kit (specific for Ram 1500 or universal flexible strip) • Fuse tap (add-a-fuse) or wire taps • 12V inline fuse (if not included) • Electrical tape or heat shrink tubing • Wire crimper/stripper • Plastic trim removal tool • Zip ties or adhesive mounts • Protective wire wrap ⚡ Installation Steps 1 Prep & Clean Surface ◦ Wash and dry the underside of the hood where you’ll stick the LEDs. ◦ Use rubbing alcohol to remove grease/dust. 2 Mount the LED Strip ◦ Peel the adhesive backing and stick the strip along the underside edge of the hood (near the cowl or vent area). ◦ Press firmly so it bonds well. 3 Route the Wiring ◦ Run the wire along the hood edge, securing with zip ties. ◦ Follow the factory wiring harness down toward the engine bay. ◦ Leave slack at the hinge area so wires don’t pinch when opening/closing the hood. 4 Connect Power ◦ Best option: Tap into the parking lights or DRLs using a fuse tap in the fuse box. This way, the hood lights turn on with your parking/headlights. ◦ Alternative: Connect to an aux switch (if your Ram has the Upfitter switch package). ◦ Make sure to use an inline fuse to prevent electrical issues. 5 Ground Connection ◦ Attach the ground wire securely to a metal bolt on the frame/engine bay (bare metal, not painted). 6 Test ◦ Turn on your parking lights/headlights and check if the hood LEDs light up. ◦ Secure all wires with zip ties and ensure nothing is near hot or moving parts.
