A full day in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal: Transfer from the Celebrity Edge on a bus from Funchal Port to Funchal Quay beachfront, walk across the road to Funchal Cable Car at Teleférico Funchal-Monte with sea & mountain views attract riders of this modern gondola running from Funchal to Monte. Arrival in the village of Monte, Teleférico do Monte at Babosas Palace. Note there are two cable car systems, one as above, that goes from Funchal to Monte. Then you can walk to the botanical gardens station, Jardim Botânico - this cable car takes you to the Botanical Garden Station. At the main station, the Botanical Garden station, you have use of a panoramic restaurant, a terrace and snack bar with a magnificent view as well a thematic store where you can get local souvenirs. Back in Babosas, nearby is the Carreiros do Monte where you can travel down the streets to the ocean in a sledge: The Monte Sledges are made of wicker and mounted on two wooden runners. They are traditionally handcrafted by skilled craftsmen and master carpenters, experts in the hand wicker-making technique from the mid 1800 in a classic, artisanal method and using the finest local wicker and wood to ensure that a high standard of quality is applied to each Sledge. Outside, more views back over Funchal and ocean and then our return trip back to sea front on cable car to Funchal. Out from the cable car station to R. Casa da Luz, crossing the Rua Brigadeiro Oudinot to Rua Do Visconde De Anadia into the street shopping. Walk west to Funchal Cathedral, Sé Catedral do Funchal and along Av.
