Garden Pests vs. My Summer Harvest

Welcome to my summer garden harvest in Zone 10! It's a bit of a bittersweet harvest this year with some significant bird damage and pesky Japanese beetles taking a toll on my fruit trees. I'm feeling a little bummed about it, so if you have any tips for keeping birds away from fruit trees without netting, please share your wisdom in the comments below! On the bright side, I did get a decent harvest of shallots (despite making a few newbie mistakes in my first year – any shallot-growing advice is welcome!), along with a good amount of delicious peaches, apples, and pluots. We also gathered plenty of other goodies like ripe tomatoes, colorful peppers, crisp green beans, and a beautiful bouquet of garden flowers.
