At the time of the events of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Dwarven Mines of Moria were inhabited by numerous orcs, but the main evil of these dark halls was the surviving Balrog. As we know, Gandalf managed to defeat the monstrous demon, and a few months later, the fateful War of the Ring ended. What happened to Moria after the Return of the King?
