In Conversation with Sue Black
We were delighted to welcome back University of Aberdeen graduate Professor Sue Black for this virtual event discussing her fascinating career and latest best-selling book, 'Written in Bone: Hidden Stories in What We Leave Behind'. Sue Black is a leading forensic anthropologist, anatomist and academic. She has worked on a number of high-profile forensic investigations and identified thousands of victims of war crimes and natural disasters; she has also assisted with the prosecution of perpetrators. She received a police commendation for her work developing new forensic techniques to identify the vein and skin patterns in the hands and forearms, leading to multiple criminal convictions. Her first bestselling book, ‘All That Remains: A Life in Death’ was awarded the Saltire Book of the Year Award in 2018. Her new book, ‘Written in Bone’ delves deep into the intricacies of human anatomy, as Sue reveals how tiny details found in the human skeleton have impacted many mysteries throughout her career. Sue was joined by Professor Greg Gordon, Head of the School of Law, for this a unique insight into her incredible life and a Q&A with alumni of the University of Aberdeen.
