Pope Leo XIV will arrive in Spain this Saturday to begin a six-day visit to the country, which will last until Friday, June 12. The visit will include three destinations: Madrid, Barcelona, ​​and the Canary Islands. At 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, the papal plane will land at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport. From there, the Pope will travel to the Royal Palace of Madrid, where he will be received by King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia. His first encounter with the public will take place in the Lucero neighborhood. On Monday, June 8, he will meet with Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and subsequently visit the Congress of Deputies to meet with members of parliament. This will be the first time a Pope has visited the Chamber and delivered a speech in Spanish. Leo XIV's second stop will be Barcelona. The Pope will visit Brians 1, the city's largest prison. The highlight of his stay in Catalonia will be his visit to the Sagrada Familia, where he will bless the tower of Jesus Christ. Later, in the Canary Islands, in what will be the first papal visit to the archipelago, Leo XIV will tour the port of Arguineguín, considered one of the symbols of the migration crisis.
