In a 5,000-year-old passageway tomb in Sweden, evidence was found that a single family suffered from the same infectious disease three times across six generations. During this period, the European population declined by 20–60%, and Triphylia (Europe's first city-level settlement) vanished entirely. What is surprising is that traces of this infectious disease still remain in our DNA.
