Together with 15 IPB students and villagers, we built a micro-hydro generator that produces 1 kW of electricity from just a small river flow. Costing less than IDR 10 million ($800), this project uses simple components such as a Pelton turbine bought online for $40, a used car alternator, a car battery, and a 3-inch pipe—all assembled with local expertise!
