Do New Pickups Change a Guitar? | Tele Pickup Upgrade

This guitar started as a BexGears kit and over time it’s become one of those guitars that slowly turned into its own thing. There have been changes along the way—a neck swap, setup work, experimenting—and now it finally felt like time to see what a pickup change might do. Huge thanks to Roy for sending these pickups over. We know the neck pickup is a Bootstrap and the bridge pickup is a little more mysterious, which honestly made this experiment more interesting. This video isn’t about proving one pickup is better than another. It’s just the process of making a change, listening, playing, comparing, and seeing what happens. Along the way we compare some before and after tones, work through the install, talk through a few observations, and try to decide whether I’m hearing an actual difference—or whether my old rock-and-roll ears are doing what old rock-and-roll ears do.
