Crioadipolisi: il ghiaccio che cancella il grasso in eccesso

Swimsuit season afflicts more than half of Italians, who admit they arrive unprepared. If strict diets, controlled nutrition plans, and physical activity aren't enough to get in shape for the start of summer, technology is coming to the rescue. Cryoadipolysis, a body reshaping technique that involves freezing adipose tissue, is also gaining popularity in Italy. It relies on the vulnerability of fat to temperature changes, achieving two simultaneous effects: adipose tissue suction and controlled cooling to a temperature of -8°C, which selectively freezes the fat. This damages the subcutaneous cells, resulting in a reduction in adipose tissue. Unlike liposuction, which has a significant post-operative recovery, the treatment is non-invasive and can eliminate 3 to 7 centimeters from the waist, saddlebags, hips, chin, back, and arms after just the first session. This procedure is well tolerated by the body and leaves no scars or stretch marks, as the complete elimination of destroyed fat cells takes longer, averaging around six weeks, allowing the skin to gradually return to its normal state. Bandages are not required; self-massage is recommended to promote microcirculation and tissue oxygenation, and to eliminate any bruising caused by freezing. If you maintain an active lifestyle and a healthy diet, the removed fat layer will not reappear, as the system destroys the fat cells. While body sculpting treatments were once almost exclusively for women, today the demand from men is around 20%, particularly for the abdominal area. Cryoadipolysis is particularly effective for small areas of localized fat, those problem areas that even a strict diet, hours of gym time, and targeted exercises cannot eliminate, even in athletes with good muscle mass. The device is equipped with different applicators of different shapes and sizes, designed to adapt to all anatomical areas, allowing for complete reshaping of the silhouette. We visited the Clininica Durini in Milan during a treatment to see how it works and to have Dr. Nicolle Tascon, a specialist in aesthetic medicine and laser therapy, explain the procedure.
