The one I currently have I've been spraying lawns for the last year. This one is nice and gummed up and I am unable to get a decent spray out of it. Here are my troubleshooting steps: 1. evacuate the liquids from the hose lines and 4 gallon tank. Triple rinse the tank 2. remove the wand and attempt to spray. If the spray comes out then clean the wand and nozzle, problem solved. If the problem is still there proceed to step 3. 3. inspect the filters. The first filter is located at the bottom of the tank. clean and inspect. The second filter is located between the hose and the handle. Clean and inspect. Before putting the filter back that's behind the handle do a test spray. If the spray comes out the way its supposed to the problem is the filter is dirty. If the problem persists the issue is in the pump diaphragm. If the issue is in the pump diaphragm it's either the diaphragm is bad and needs to be replaced by chapin or there is debris in the diaphragm. Either way call Chapin. Overall my opinion on the Chapin 24 volt backpack sprayer is as follows. I don't believe it's of great value to use commercially. I feel it's intended for the casual user or residential user. Right out of the box you MUST tighten the hose lines that go into and out of the diaphragm pump or you will most likely encounter problems. It is wise to check and clean the filters every 3rd use at a minimum. Overall, its a decent unit for the price. With a little preventive maintenance it's a handy tool to keep around. To tighten the hose lines remove the pump housing using a 5/32 allen wrench. Use a flat head driver to tighten the 3 hose clamps.
