South Carolina Army National Guard Apache pilots found themselves at the center of a July 4th controversy after a low flyover near Cherry Grove Beach led to their temporary suspension and an investigation. The story quickly took another turn as senior leaders, including Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, publicly expressed support for the crews, and Army spokesperson Sean Parnell announced the pilots had been returned to flight status while the investigation continues.
