I Was Wrong About This Green Tree Python

This Green Tree Python went five to seven weeks without eating after I moved him into a rack system. I believed that because I was maintaining the same temperatures, parameters, and general care, he would settle in and start eating. I was wrong. He had previously done well in this exact enclosure, so I moved him back into it. He ate on the very first night. This was a good reminder that what makes sense to us does not always work for the individual animal. Sometimes the enclosure, perch placement, visibility, security, or overall environment matters more than we realize. MJ from Trap Talk had advised me to keep young or unsettled Green Tree Pythons in the type of setup that was already working for them. In this case, he was right. Get them established first. Changes can come later. Experience matters—but so does listening to experienced keepers and paying attention when the animal proves your assumptions wrong.
