How to Upgrade A VW Up! With Apple CarPlay & Android Auto

In this video, I show how to easily upgrade a 2022 Volkswagen Up! that will bring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. I used a 10” Coral Vision RX10 portable car stereo display. You can buy this standalone display for $199 direct from the Coral Vision store 👉🏻 https://bit.ly/coralvisionrx10. *Sorry I keep calling it an E-Up! It's a 2022 Volkswagen Up! R-Line. Whilst my VW Golf is in for its annual service, I received a VW Up! as my courtesy car for the day. Driving home I found its Bluetooth integration and companion app a little bit frustrating to use, to say the least. So I explored how best to upgrade the Bluetooth audio-only system with a fully-fledged 10" display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The integrated mobile mount on top of the dashboard can easily clamp onto the base stand of the RX10. Using this mount solution, though, there are no sideways movements, but this limit is no different from when your mobile is inserted into the same cradle mount. Powering the RX10 only requires one cable. You can use the bundled 12v adapter and stow the excess cable, or buy a decent USB-C to C cable at just the right length, and connect this to a decent 64W 12v USB-C power adapter down below. Audio is best transmitted over Bluetooth from the RX10 and connecting your phone to the stereo will continue audio to the car stereo, and also allow the ability to display metadata in the centre instrument cluster, and also the wheel controls will also work to change tracks as well as alter volume levels. Overall, I found this to be a great way to bring CarPlay or Android Auto to the Up! or E-Up! system. I tried the Carpuride W901 Pro but its larger 4:3 format screen was just too big on top of the dash to recommend it. The RX10 is also big, but it runs a lower widescreen profile, for a size that is more suited to the interior of the Up! I would possibly go for a smaller 7" display, like the RX7.
