Is AE Forest Still for Everyone? MTB 2025 | Scotland’s 7 Stanes Trail Centre Review

MTB Adventure at AE Trail Centre – Red, Black & Off-Piste Thrills! Today’s ride took me to AE Trail Centre, one of the famous Seven Staines MTB trail centres in the UK. Known for its mix of flow, technical climbs, and adrenaline-pumping sections, AE Trail Centre has something for every rider – from main loops to offsite downhill trails. Trail Highlights: Omega Man Upper (Red): Kicked off the day here. Lots of climbing early on which can hurt the flow, but it opens up towards the end with some fun, fast sections. Raider (Offsite Black): A short, sharp black trail that’s perfect as a warm-up. Compact, technical, and a lot of fun. Gub Hill (Red): Similar to Omega Man, with mixed ascents and brief fast-flowing sections. Great for technical practice. Scrambled Egg (Black, Off-Piste): Incredible! Well-designed, off-piste, and full of adrenaline. A true thrill ride that gets your heart racing. Omega Man Lower & New Flow Line: Fast and flowy; while it might look like a blue trail, the speed and technical corners push it into red territory. Watch me nearly lose it on one of the turns! Overall Impression: I barely scratched the surface here. While the older red trails like Omega Man Upper and Gub Hill are a bit lacking in flow and the ascents can be a drag on a push bike, an ebike would definitely liven these up. Between the main trail centre loops and offsite/downhill sections, AE Trail Centre has trails for all skill levels. Don’t forget to check the café – I visited on a Friday and it was closed, so plan accordingly.
