With E20 becoming the norm, E30 being considered, and E85 already available in limited places, we test what it is actually like to live with an E85 motorcycle in the real world. In this video, we ride the Suzuki Gixxer SF250 Flex Fuel on E85 fuel across a mixed route covering Mumbai city traffic, highway cruising on the old Mumbai–Pune highway, and the ghat section towards Lonavala. The goal was simple: find out how much mileage the Gixxer SF250 Flex Fuel delivers on E85 compared to E20, and whether the cheaper fuel actually makes a difference to running costs. The first challenge was finding E85 fuel itself. With limited demand, E85 pumps are still not easy to find, making fuel availability a major point to consider before buying a flex-fuel motorcycle today. In our real-world fuel efficiency test, the Suzuki Gixxer SF250 Flex Fuel delivered 30.1 km/l on E85, compared to 36 km/l on E20. That is around a 20% difference in fuel economy. But since E85 is cheaper, the running cost between E20 and E85 comes close in real-world usage. We also talk about performance, roll-on acceleration, handling, styling differences, and whether paying the extra premium for the Flex Fuel variant makes sense if you want a future-proof motorcycle.
