Oltepes Kilimo Secondary School - Maisernte / Maisharvest

---- Our first corn harvest at Kilimo Secondary School. In January, we started classes at this regenerative agriculture school. In March we planted for the first time. In the beginning, we were denied water. Plants that are not sprayed with chemicals cannot survive, so it is also a waste of water to direct the so valuable irrigation water there. Principal's intervention, negotiation: give us a chance to show that it can be done. We will use less water, keep the moisture with the help of cover plants, but we can't do it completely without. A compromise is reached. Curious neighbouring farmers observe how our students can very well keep the bugs away from the plants using new methods. The joy is all the greater when we can harvest the first crop at the end of August. And it works! And this is just the beginning. Because in January we will take in the next 40 students, who will be taught regenerative agriculture and secondary education. We are at the beginning. At the beginning of a new school, a pilot project in the form of a secondary school with integrative vocational education and with regenerative agriculture, an education that has never existed before in this Maasai region. And we know the importance for the health of the soil, the change of the microclimate and the health of the people. https://africaaminialama.com/
