Stop Guessing What Your Athlete Needs Under Pressure
After a bad game, your athlete may not need another breakdown of every turnover, missed shot, or missed assignment. They may need space, encouragement, or time to reset before the car ride makes a hard moment heavier. Twin multi-sport athletes Sophie and Livie Bullington join Coach Que on the Underdawgs Voice Podcast to talk about preparation, mistakes, coach correction, big-moment nerves, pressure, and the different kinds of support athletes need when the game does not go their way. In this episode, Sophie and Livie share why one sister needs space and the other needs encouragement after a hard game; what athletes may actually hear when a coach says “next play”; how Sophie responded after taking a three Coach had told the team not to take; what Livie learned from nerves in a state-championship moment; and how they help each other through slumps, head-down moments, and tough game days. This is a conversation for sports parents trying to figure out what to say after a bad game, when to give their athlete space, and how to support an athlete who gets quiet after mistakes. Parents, pressure may show up before your athlete says a word. Watch for the response: getting quiet after mistakes, rushing the next decision, dropping their head, stopping communication, or playing like they are trying not to mess up. Before assuming they need more confidence, name the pattern. Then ask: what is pressure changing in their response? Work 1-on-1 with Coach Que: https://the-underdawgs-voice.newzenle...
