In this video, we'll look at: Counterfeit Toyota cans. How to spot a fake in five seconds without comparing them to the original. And more: 1. Where and where should the container's production date be marked? 2. Where and where should the oil bottling date be marked? 3. What should be the distance between symbols? 6. What should be the slant angle of the marking? AND OTHER CRAP THAT I'M ASKED TEN TIMES A DAY. FORGET ABOUT IT AND GET IT OUT OF YOUR HEAD. All four-liter metal containers for Japanese OEMs are manufactured by a single company, Nagao Seikan, at two plants in Chiba and Wakayama. If you look at the bottom of ANY four-liter container from Japan, you'll see the abbreviation for these plants – either NSW or NSC. As a reminder, the bottom of the canister indicates the CONTAINER PRODUCTION DATE (the can itself), and the top indicates the PRODUCT BOTTLING DATE. Nagao Seikan's factories have many production lines. Each has its own industrial printer – a marker. Each printer is individually configured. Printers vary – they are not part of the line, but an optional device. Furthermore, printers can be from different manufacturers, years of production, and even countries. Configuration and calibration are performed by a full-time mechanic/setup engineer at the factory. FOR THIS REASON, THE PRODUCTION DATE ON THE CONTAINER CAN BE APPLIED IN DIFFERENT WAYS AND HAVE A DIFFERENT APPEARANCE THOUGH IT WAS APPLIED AT THE SAME FACTORY. It's exactly the same situation with the marking of the oil bottling date – but here the difference can be even greater, as the original product is bottled by two companies, JXTG and IDEMITSU, and at their own DIFFERENT blending plants. FOR THIS REASON, THE PRODUCT'S BOTTLING DATE CAN BE APPLIED IN DIFFERENT WAYS AND HAVE A DIFFERENT APPEARANCE. I have many videos on how to decipher production dates from different manufacturers.
