David Rose - Too Beautiful To Last
British composer Richard Rodney Bennett received an Academy Award nomination for the theme which he wrote for the historical romance "Nicholas and Alexandra" - a 1971 film about Tsar Nicholas II and his wife Alexandra. As is often the case, lyrics were soon added to this beautiful music and the piece later became known as "Too Beautiful To Last". A well known vocal version would be the one sung by Engelbert Humperdinck- as for instrumental covers, the choice is abundant. From Henry Mancini to Franck Pourcel - nearly all major orchestras have played this fragile and sensitive theme. Here we present David Rose's version - in my humble opinion, one of the very best. From the album "Portrait in music" here's David Rose and His Orchestra bringing you the heavenly "Too beautiful to last". Enjoy !
