Church Lane and Reading & Allentown Traction Company bridge. Trexlertown PA.
Hello friends. Happy Independence Day! Today we are in Trexlertown, Lehigh County PA. We are looking at a span that I’ve wondered about for quite sometime. This interesting bridge has been here since at least 1899 and at one time carried the Allentown & Reading Traction Company over it as well. Both the road and trolley used this bridge. The trolley ran from Allentown, to Dorney Park, and eventually all the way to Kutztown. I believe in Kutztown riders could then board a different trolley, due to different rail configuration, and proceed all the way to Reading PA. I’m starting to think that the road bridge may predate the trolley abutment, however I still have to fill in some blanks. If any of you are familiar with the history of this bridge I would love to learn. Thank you very much for watching and have a wonderful and safe 4th of July. 7/4/25
