Eating 10+ North & South INDIAN VEG DISHES with Esmeralda on Social | San Francisco, California
🧳 ESMERALDA: / esmeraldaonsocial 🇮🇳 UDUPI PALACE: https://udupisf.com/ ✈️ CHECK OUT MY TRAVEL BLOG: https://davidsbeenhere.com/ My quest to teach as many people about Indian food continued in the beautiful city of San Francisco, where I met up with my friend Esmeralda Rodriguez, who I’ve known for 4 or 5 years! Come with us as we try over 10+ Indian veg dishes with Esmeralda on Social in San Francisco, California! For this adventure, I returned back to Udupi Palace, a pure vegetarian Indian restaurant in the city that I’d visited a couple of days earlier. In the kitchen, we watched them prepare saag paneer, an onion-chili uttapam, chole bhature, a rava dosa, and more! 👕 DAVID’S BEEN HERE MERCH: https://teespring.com/stores/davids-b... At our table, we started with the chole bhature. The crispy bhature went very well with the savory and sweet chickpea mixture. The bhature maintained its texture and was still crispy and fluffy. I loved it! Adding raita and pickles added different layers of flavor! The mint-cilantro chutney was also amazing with it! Next was the rava dosa, which was crispy and full of holes, and contained lots of onions. It was the best with the coconut chutney, but the pungent tomato chutney was also nice, as was the nutty peanut chutney! It also contained aloo and went well with the sambar, too. Then, we went with the onion chili uttapam, which was going to be savory and spicy! It was really doughy and soaked up the sambar and chutneys. I loved it with the coconut chutney. It had some nice heat to it! The dahi vada was next. It came drowning in yogurt, tamarind chutney, and mint-cilantro chutney. It was cold and refreshing, and the crispy vada was the perfect accompaniment. We followed that with the bisi bele bath, which came with rice and a tomato base. The dish was like an elevated rice porridge, and was nice and light. It had a really nice flavor. It was my first time having it! Next was the saag paneer. The greens were so fresh, and the addition of the cheese was killer! We followed it with avial curry, which we ate with a puri. It’s full of coconut milk, carrots, potatoes, and pepper. I loved the soft texture! Then, we jumped on the thali with the bhature. The thali came with a number of different veg dishes, including some with chickpeas, cabbage, and more. Then, we chased it with a refreshing mango lassi. Dessert was kheer, which contained semolina noodles and cashews, and was really sweet. Then, we jumped on the poori bhaji, which contained potatoes, onions, and sweet peas. It was like a nice, spiced mashed potatoes with vegetables! It went perfectly with the coconut chutney, which was good enough to drink! Esmeralda and I both loved the uttapam the most out of everything we tried! Where have you been?
