රහතන්වහන්සේ හඳුනානොගත් දායකයා නිසා අත්වූ ඉරණම | Arihath Manikara Kulupagathissa Thero

මණිකාර කුළුපඟතිස්ස රහතන්වහන්සේ | අප ගෞතම බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේ වැඩ වසන සමයේ, තිස්ස නම් රහතන් වහන්සේ එක්තරා මැණික් කපන්නෙකුගේ නිවසින් වසර 12ක් තිස්සේ දන් වැළඳූහ. දවසක් මේ මැණික්කරු මස් කපමින් සිටි වෙලාවක, රජතුමා විසින් ඔප දැමීමට එවන ලද වටිනා මැණිකක් ලේ තැවරුණු අතින්ම පෙට්ටියක් උඩ තබා ඔහු ඇතුළට ගියේය. ඒ වෙලාවේ එතන සිටි කොස්වා ලිහිණියෙක් මස් කැටියක් යැයි සිතා ඒ මැණික ගිල දැමුවේය. පිටතට පැමිණි මැණික්කරු මැණික නැති බව දැක, නිවසේ වෙනත් අයෙකු නොසිටි බැවින් තෙරුන් වහන්සේ එය ගත් බවට සැක කළේය. තෙරුන් වහන්සේ "මම නොගතිමි" යි පැවසුවද, රජුගෙන් බේරීමට වෙනත් මඟක් නැති වූ මැණික්කරු කෝපයට පත්විය. ලිහිණියාට අනතුරක් වේ යැයි සිතූ තෙරුන් වහන්සේ ඇත්ත නොකියා නිහඬ වූහ. මැණික්කරු තෙරුන් වහන්සේගේ හිස කඹයකින් බැඳ පොල්ලකින් තද කරමින් වද දුන්නේය. උන්වහන්සේගේ කන් සහ නාසයෙන් ලේ ගලන්නට විය. බිම වැසුණු ලේ බොන්නට ආ ලිහිණියාට මැණික්කරු ගැසූ පා පහරින් ඌ මියගියේය. ලිහිණියා මියගිය බව දැනගත් තෙරුන් වහන්සේ, උගේ බඩ පළා බලන ලෙස පැවසූහ. බඩ පළා මැණික සොයාගත් මැණික්කරු තැතිගෙන, තෙරුන් වහන්සේගේ පාමුල වැටී සමාව ඉල්ලා සිටියේය. "උපාසකය, මෙය සංසාර දෝෂයක්, මම සමාවෙමි" යි පැවසූ තෙරුන් වහන්සේ, එදින සිට කිසිදු නිවසකට නොගොස් පිණ්ඩපාතයෙන් පමණක් යැපීමට අධිෂ්ඨාන කළහ. ලත් තුවාල නිසා උන්වහන්සේ නොබෝ කලකින් පිරිනිවන් පෑහ. තෙරුන් වහන්සේට වද දුන් මැණික්කරු නිරයටත්, උන්වහන්සේ බේරාගන්නට හැදූ ඔහුගේ බිරිඳ මරණින් පසු දෙව්ලොවත් උපන්නාහ. ඔබත් සසර ඇති බියකරු බව වටහා ගනිත්වා. One day, while the jeweler was cutting meat, he placed a precious jewel sent by the king to be polished on a box with his own blood-stained hand and went inside. At that time, a koswa lady who was there, thinking it was a piece of meat, swallowed the jewel. When the jeweler came out, he saw that the jewel was not there and suspected that the Thera had taken it, since there was no one else in the house. Although the Thera said, "I did not take it," the jeweler, who had no other way to escape the king, became angry. The Thera, thinking that the lady would be in danger, did not tell the truth. The jeweler tied the Thera's head with a rope and tortured him by pressing it with a stick. Blood began to flow from his ears and nose. The jeweler kicked the snake that had come to drink the blood that had covered the ground, and it died. When the Thera learned that the snake was dead, he ordered him to open its stomach and examine it. The jeweler, who found the gem in its stomach, was horrified and fell at the Thera's feet and begged for forgiveness. "Venerable sir, this is a mistake in samsara, I apologize," said the Thera, and from that day on he resolved not to go to any house and to live only on alms. He passed away soon after due to his injuries. The jeweler who had tortured the Thera was reborn in hell, and his wife, who had been trying to save him, was reborn in heaven after death.
