A tribute to ghazals by Shirjeel Jackson

December 27 2026 - Virasat Mehfil in Mississauga (a friend's home) Ghazals are very special to our hearts, and in Shirjeel, we found someone who knows how to deliver these words with alot of love and care. The first ghazal, Ranjish Hi Sahi, is written by Ahmed Fraz and made eternal by the voice of Mehdi Hasan Khan sahab. The second ghazal, Gulon mein rang bharay, written by Faiz Ahmed Faiz, and again, became a symbol of unrequitted love in the voice of Mehdi Hasan Khan sahab. The contributions of these two shayar and Mehdi Hasan are immense, and we are only trying to keep some of their work alive. In a world which is chasing AI, overs simplification of complexities of lfe, longing, loss, and love, Virasat tries to show things as they are.
