🚧 ¡NUEVAS ZANJAS! | CERRO CANDELA, CARRETERA CENTRAL y GRIFO TOKIO

Saturday, July 25, 2026. I passed by the progress of the Cerro Candela cut and the widening of the Central Highway, including the area where part of the Tokio gas station was demolished, in the Ate district. I began my journey heading from Lima to Chosica. The auxiliary lane in this direction is still closed. However, it is already clear that it has been completely paved, along with the construction of sidewalks, the installation of horizontal and vertical signage, and the creation of green areas. The retaining wall of the Cerro Candela cut also appears visually finished, complete with its painted railings, stairs, sidewalks, and curbs. In this section of the Central Highway, it can be observed that the ground is still being excavated. Along this stretch, several trenches are visible in the earth, and some blue pipes have been laid. In contrast, much of the adjacent land has already been filled and leveled. Continuing along the route, a larger trench is visible, accompanied by pipes. Reaching the Tokio gas station, it's clear that one of the roofs covering the fuel dispensers has been demolished. Also, in several sections, the old pavement has been broken up to make way for the new work. On the other hand, the well-known "floating houses" area remains unchanged since my last visit.
