Vintage Dual CS 1268 Automatic Turntable Part 1 The Problems

Part 1 of 2. This video I go over the history and issues with the unit. Part 2 will be addressing the issues. Basically I got this off of eBay. Found the stylus was all bent and twisted and that a replacement did not exist. This came with a CIM 50/60 series cartridge installed which is not factory original as it has the aftermarket 1/2 adapter. so someone at some point changed out the stylus. After some research and suggestions from other vintage audio collectors I decided to go with a audio technica VM95E cartridge for the budget I had. Not sure what the original cartridge was but you had the option to upgrade to the Ortofon TKS55E for a additional cost. Retail this unit cost from $200 to $310 in 1980s money which is $632 to $980 today if you went with the TKS55E option. Made in Germany and everything appears to be simple in how it operates. The company is still around today.
