Meihua quan kung fu 5 basic stances
With this video you can practice along five basic stances of Meihua quan Kung Fu, one of the oldest styles of Kung Fu with 3000 years of history. All stances are related to the Chinese elements. Da shi or big stance is related to Metal. We keep this posture for 30 seconds, 15 seconds each side. Be sure to place your feet in one line and your arms as straight as possible. About 70% of the weight is on the back leg. Shun shi or fluent stance is related to Water. Be sure to keep your waist open and your front feet forward and backfeet perpendicular to the body. Ao shi or twisted stance is related to wood. Be sure to keep the toes of your backfeet directed inward and your arms in one line with your shoulders. Slightly tilt the body backwards. Xiao shi or small stance is related to fire. Be sure sink in the position and to direct all the weight on the back foot. The forward foot toes point down. Extend the arms fully. Bai shi or defeated stance is related to earth. Look to the ground in front of you and be sure to tilt the upper body as far as you can go. Front feet is perpendicular and back foot is parallel. The weight division is about 70/30 on the back leg.
