Alte Oper, Frankfurt, 1993 Excerpt from "The Dvořák Cycle" Romance for Violin and Orchestra in F minor, Op. 11 is a lyrical composition known for its beautiful melodies and graceful, temperate orchestration. It was first performed by Josef Markus at Prague’s Žofín Palace on 9 December 1877, during the annual concert of the Pension Association Theatre Orchestra and Choir. Originally composed for violin and orchestra, Dvořák also arranged a version with piano accompaniment, dedicating it to his friend, violin virtuoso František Ondříček.
