Blencathra - Snow Hiking In Sub Zero Conditions

Blencathra - Snow Hiking In Sub Zero Conditions, was sketchy, very sketchy, indeed in parts, with the snow up to my knees and if you diverted from the path, you could be waist deep in snowed gullies. I took the decision not to cross Sharp Edge from Scales Tarn, as there were 30mph gusts and the wind chill was -14C on the tops. Hiking in deep snow was tough going but the spectacular sight of a frozen Scales Tarn and the jaw dropping view from Blencathra summit made it all worth while. My water bottle froze up and the extreme cold killed my mic, just before the end but I had an amazing day out in the frozen Lake District - a day that will live in my memory for the rest of my life.
