A lecture commemorating the 125th anniversary of the discovery of the Lady of Elche, presented by archaeologist Carmen Aranegui Gascó, one of the leading experts on Iberian art and the Lady of Elche. The Lady of Elche is the most important archaeological find in Spain related to our past. She is the epitome of the Iberian archaeological legacy and is considered its finest example. She is a symbol of perfection. Carmen Aranegui Gascó was appointed to the Chair of Archaeology at the University of Valencia in 1986 and is currently Professor Emeritus at the same university. She specializes in the study of Iberian culture and its ceramics, focusing on the cultural changes that shaped different cultures, both during the Iron Age (900-100 BC) and through contact with Rome, primarily through excavations at Grau Vell and the Forum of Sagunto, the Penyal d'Ifac (Calp), the Dénia coastline, and the Cabezo Lucero necropolis (Guardamar del Segura). In 2018, she wrote the bestselling book, 'The Lady of Elche: Where, When, and Why' (2018).
