How To Chain 2-wire Smokes On An Alarm System With Homerun Wiring

In this video, Hayden discusses the possible wiring setups for 2-wire smoke detectors when all of your wires are homerun to your alarm system. In all cases, the best wiring method for 2-wire smoke is to chain your wires from one detector to the next, however, for those that have all homerun wires, you can still potentially chain your smokes if you have 4 wires run to each detector. With 4 wires going to each detector, you're able to create chained wiring by utlizing the extra 2 wires from each of your runs. While this is a viable tactic, be advised it creates numerous extra splices that could potentially fail if the splices are not solid. If you use this method, be sure you use proper splicing techniques and double check all of the connections before calling it good.
