Ride Tiger | Sweep Lotus | Draw Bow | Closing Of Tai Chi
1:55 Retreat To Ride Tiger 4:55 Turn Around To Sweep Lotus 9:39 Draw Bow To Shoot Tiger 11:57 Closing of Tai Chi Here we are with our last video for Classroom Classics 3. We start with Retreat To Ride Tiger where Kevin talks about staying in the sit as you step back and then stand up. People tend to forget about the sit, forget about using the legs. So, stay in the sit, step back and then push up and open as you stand into the right leg. Turn Around To Sweep Lotus - express with the hands in front of the body as you step and turn. When doing Turn To Sweep Lotus, it seems a lot of people want to speed it up. Take your time with it and remember to keep your arms connected with the turn. The arms turn with the body, they stay in front. As the hands come to the right side, be sure to turn the body as well. The hands then sweep the foot and come across to the left side with two crossed fists with the right on the outside. Technically, both hands hit the right foot. If you can't get your foot high enough, you can slap your lower leg, your thigh - but Do Not slap your kneecap. Draw Bow To Shoot Tiger - both fists turn as you shoot tiger with bow Two fists cross with the palms facing towards you. The right fist will roll and turn up, the left fist turns and pushes out. The Closing of Tai Chi - the Bow is a gesture of respect to all our teachers We teach the bow at the end of the set. It starts the set off, initiating everything and then closes the set off. Hand positions for men are a little different from the women. Men will grab the right thumb, drop the elbows and fold the right hand over on top. Women will grab the left thumb, drop the elbows and fold the left hand over on top.
