Matthew Shepard - 20 Years Later
2018 marks the 20th anniversary of Matthew Shepard's brutal murder in Laramie. “Eliminating hate, eliminating hateful words and violence against people because they represent any type of a background or any group. And that’s certainly a goal of ours, although we have a lot of work to do, and we continue to work on that on this campus,” University of Wyoming President Laurie Nichols recently recently said at a news conference. Wyoming Chronicle visits with members of the Matthew Shepard memorial committee, Representative Cathy Connolly and Albany County Sheriff David O'Malley to understand how Laramie, and Wyoming, have changed in the past 20 years since Shepard's death.
