BRAND NEW Class S14 971/972 maiden trial run to Aluthgama from Ratmalana

Sri Lankan Railways' brand new Class S14 971 and 972 DEMU heads on its' first ever maiden trial run to Aluthgama on test run from the Ratmalana Railway workshops. The powerset was imported all the way from Qingdao, China and is also one of the latest tailor made powersets from CRRC Sifang in China for Sri Lanka Railways' upcountry tracks. Very soon this DEMU will be put to service on tracks and will be proving itself in Sri Lanka to be another one of the successful powersets to run on the upcountry tracks. The rest of the S14 DEMUs will follow up within the next few months and in early 2020. Sri Lanka Railways recently imported 5 sets of S13 DEMUs along with 5 M11 locomotives this year.
