F.B. Mondial Piega 452: la Piccola pensa in grande

There's a market segment that's been gaining increasing importance in recent years: mid-size bikes. For years neglected and abandoned, it's recently been enjoying increasing success, with consistently positive sales figures, thanks primarily to attractive, aesthetically pleasing offerings at affordable prices. The 400/500cc bikes have found fertile ground, whether on-road or off-road, and the "industrious Brianza" has taken notice, which is precisely why today we're talking about F.B. Mondial. The Piega 452 represents this company's first step into the world of large, or at least medium-size, bikes: a small bike with the features of a larger engine, interesting for its design, and also for a series of technical features that distinguish it from its direct competitors. The design is the work of Rodolfo Frascoli, who managed to give the Piega 452 a very distinct identity, even without the lenticular fairing of the rear wheel and the exclusive single-sided swingarm. The lines of this Mondial are easily recognizable and streamlined toward the front. The headlight cluster with its overlapping headlights is reminiscent of the Honda-powered Piega 1000 from the early 2000s, while the wings are a contemporary trend. The rear is characterized by the striking (and not just aesthetic) double exhaust pipe and the lack of a rear light cluster, with turn signals that also function as parking/brake lights. The Piega 452's parallel twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 449.5 cc (72 x 55.2 mm bore x stroke) inline engine is built by CF Moto to Mondial specifications. It has a power output of 46.5 hp (34.2 kW) at 10,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 39.1 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The crankshaft has a 270° offset and two balance shafts to dampen vibrations, and the exhaust sound is guaranteed by the double conical stainless steel muffler. The transmission is a 6-speed with an anti-slipper clutch and a lever effort reduction system. It also features TCS (Traction Control), which can be deactivated via a dedicated selectable riding mode. The 5" color TFT screen has a customizable layout, automatic day/night mode, and in addition to riding information (speed, mileage, fuel, etc.), it allows you to read tire pressure in real time and manage the riding mode between two configurations: Racing and Piega. It also allows smartphone connectivity and screen mirroring. The chassis features a single-sided aluminum swingarm, assisted by a preload-adjustable monoshock mounted on progressive linkages. The 41 mm diameter upside-down fork has a 120 mm travel (the same as the rear suspension). The original equipment tires are Pirelli Angel GT, 120/70-17" at the front and 160/60-17" at the rear. The braking system features a 320 mm disc braked by a Brembo 4-piston radial caliper operated by a radial pump. The rear end features a 240 mm disc with a two-piston floating caliper. The wheelbase is extremely compact, 1355 mm.
