Avsenik medley

Yesterday marked 6 years since Slavko Avsenik's passing (July 2, 2015), who together with Vilko Ovsenik (his brother and academic musician) created the popular "Oberkrainer" sound and genre that has never left central Europe and sparked the beginning of the Slovenian popular-folk genre that is still alive today. Their ensemble, Ansambel bratov Avsenik (Original Oberkrainer Avsenik, later re-branded to Slavko Avsenik und seine Original Oberkrainer) was hugely successful, with tens of millions of records sold and numerous prestigious awards throughout their lifetime, as well as musicians and groups who emulate their sound and play their 1000 compositions today.
