Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman attended the groundbreaking ceremony for an integrated dairy farm in Brebes Regency, Central Java, on Monday (July 20, 2026). In his remarks, Amran explained President Prabowo Subianto's statement regarding palm oil management policies and the government's rationale for reforming the system, which he considered detrimental to both the state and farmers. According to Amran, the domestic price of crude palm oil (CPO) is around Rp14,000, while the international market price is said to be around Rp27,000. He considered this price difference a problem that needed to be addressed because it had the potential to reduce state revenues. Amran stated that President Prabowo is a leader who has the courage to take steps to improve this governance through a policy he called the one-door system. In his speech, Amran also recounted his experience in the Holy Land. He admitted to hearing a farmer complain about the drop in the price of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) of palm oil after the one-door policy was announced. According to him, the farmer was unaware that he was in the same location. After returning from the Holy Land, Amran said he received instructions from President Prabowo regarding the decline in fresh fruit bunches (FFB) prices. He then, along with the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, took steps to follow up on the issue. Amran said that fresh fruit bunch prices subsequently recovered after coordination and meetings with relevant parties. He emphasized that the government would take action against parties deemed to be manipulating palm oil prices and harming farmers. "This is the mafia that the President is fighting. Many people will certainly be unhappy," Amran said in his speech. Amran made this statement as part of his explanation of the government's efforts to improve governance in the palm oil sector and protect farmers' interests through policies that are considered more transparent.
