The Fine Arts Department will test the lighting, sound, and stage system with a performance of the traditional Thai drama, "The Conqueror of Ten Directions," specifically the "New General" episode, on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at 1:30 PM. The renovations aim to bring the National Theatre up to international standards, with all equipment meeting European standards commonly used in leading theatres worldwide. Key improvements include: 1) Upgrading the sound system to AFC (Active Field Control). The National Theatre is the first in Thailand to install this system, which improves sound quality, ensuring clear and pleasant sound for all audience members regardless of seating position. AFC experts from Japan assisted in fine-tuning the system. 2) Upgrading the special mechanical systems, including the stage hanging bar, lighting bar, and stage lift, from the previous manual pulley system to a digitally controlled electric system. 3) Upgrading the lighting system, replacing all stage lights with digital and LED (Light Emitting Diode) bulbs. This system contributes to energy savings and a longer lifespan. In addition, a single lamp can perform a wider variety of functions. 4) Improve the projector system from the original front-facing projection to the ability to project images from the rear as well. This results in a more three-dimensional stage and enhances the viewing experience.
