Please be aware of this if you plan to visit in the future. ◆An error occurred on Mobile Navigo. How do I fix it? "Wow, you can even use your iPhone to go through ticket gates in France?!" I was entranced by this groundbreaking digital technology, but as soon as I pressed the jack, I heard a "Boom!" It was a terrible ending, considering I'd explained it in detail (lol). But why did the error occur? I did a little research. Our explorer team regularly used Mobile Suica on their iPhones in Tokyo. They also had one other credit card registered, so perhaps they needed to select multiple cards, even though it was a touch payment. If you're experiencing similar symptoms, try turning off all cards other than Navigo on your iPhone by going to "Settings" → "Wallet & Apple Pay" → "Express Cards." It seems the error may have occurred due to interference with other cards, and this setting fixed it! When trying it out for the first time, it's best to give yourself plenty of time and choose a location where station staff or other personnel are present. Don't call us the "Stuck Game Brokerage Explorers"! (Note: I'll forget for now about the information I heard about being able to board the train by directly tapping your credit card on the board.) ◆Greetings are super important in France, too!!! 　Although it's not specifically mentioned in the video, it seems like French people, especially French speakers, have a bit of a resistance to English... (This is just my gut feeling as an explorer). Japanese people probably feel similarly, too: "Just because it's a global language doesn't mean I can't speak to you in English in Japan..." "Don't just speak to me in English as if it's a given!" "You think I'll understand you?" I felt like the expressions of French people were different just by learning basic French phrases like "bonjour," "bonsoir," and "merci." Even in Japan, if someone who looks like a foreigner greets you with a broken "hello..." you'd think, "Oh, what's wrong?" This was especially true this time! It's interesting to see how people's reactions differ compared to France and Thailand, another major tourist destination. ◆Anti-Pickpocketing Products I thought about mentioning this in the video, but decided to leave it out due to volume. Pickpockets who squeeze close to you apparently skillfully open the zipper of your bag and reach their hand in! So, if you take the extra step of attaching something like a carabiner or hook to the zipper to make it harder to open, it's said you can become a less likely target. Some people even cut open the bag with a knife to steal the contents, so be careful! Even for smartphones, simply attaching a simple strap to your wrist is said to be much more effective at preventing theft than having nothing attached at all. So, you can take security measures from the outside. By the way, the word for "pickpocket" in French(?) is "pick pocket." If you do notice a pickpocket in the act, you'll want to think carefully about what to say to let those around you know.
