The "Welcome Back" Custom Build Breakdown Deck: Powell Peralta Flight Deck The foundation of this build is all about modern tech meeting classic feel. Flight Decks are engineered with fiberglass and epoxy layers, making them significantly thinner and lighter than a traditional 7-ply maple board, but insanely strong. If you are just getting back into skating, this deck is perfect—it resists snapping, holds its pop significantly longer, and gives you a reliable, snappy response underfoot while you shake off the rust. Trucks: Bam Margera Slappy Trucks Slappy trucks are designed for maximum grind clearance and a incredibly smooth, responsive turn. Throwing the Bam Margera pro models on here adds a huge hit of nostalgia for anyone who skated in the 2000s. They provide a stable wheelbase with a classic aesthetic, making them ideal for locking into grinds and carving around the park as you get your balance back. Wheels: Powell Peralta Nano Cubic 54mm (97a) These wheels are a massive highlight of this build. The Nano Cubics feature an offset bearing placement that actually covers and protects your axle nut, giving you more wheel surface to lock onto ledges and rails. At 54mm, they are the perfect versatile mid-size. More importantly, the 97a durometer is the secret weapon here: it's slightly softer than the rock-hard 99a or 101a wheels standard today. This means they absorb rough pavement beautifully, offering a much smoother, more forgiving ride on old knees while still sliding when you need them to. Bearings: Bones Swiss Ceramics Simply put, these are the holy grail of skateboard bearings. Instead of steel, they use ceramic balls which are lighter, harder, and nearly friction-free. They accelerate faster, roll longer, and are highly resistant to dirt and moisture. You won't have to work nearly as hard to keep your speed up, allowing you to focus purely on your tricks and your flow. Grip Tape: Jessup You can't go wrong with the original. Jessup provides a consistent, reliable grip that secures your feet perfectly without being so coarse that it immediately shreds through your skate shoes. It’s the classic, tried-and-true finishing touch to bring the whole premium setup together. Feel free to copy and paste this directly into your video description! It gives your viewers a clear understanding of your gear choices and proves you’ve thoughtfully engineered this board to be the ultimate return-to-skating setup.
