Vacuum Pump Oil Leak Fixed! And Boom... Roadside Repair in the Alps! Land Rover Discovery / S5-EP44
Today’s episode is all about tackling an oil leak that had us scratching our heads and rolling up our sleeves! Last week, we spotted an oil leak in the vacuum pump of Vera’s beloved 2006 Land Rover Discovery 3 with the rugged 2.7L TDV6 engine and 295,000 km on the clock. Typically, this is a body-off job for a Land Rover repair shop but we did it in a few hours through the hood. Join us (Vera and Christian) as we dive into this challenging repair, which took every ounce of patience and expertise we had! We’ll show you the meticulous process of installing a new seal in the vacuum pump using Loctite 518 sealant, and of course, we’ll share the good, the messy, and the funny moments along the way. But that’s not all! In this video, we also: Installed a new Delphi Diesel Filter (EU3) Replaced the rear air shock dust boot Gave the shifter a fresh look with a new leather sleeve After the demanding repair, we take the Discovery on a well-earned trip to the Alps—but the adventure didn’t end there. We faced unexpected snow at just 2000 meters while crossing the Timmelsjoch between Austria and Italy, and let’s just say our worn-out winter tires didn’t help! After a heart-stopping drive, we arrived safely and visited the fascinating Ötzi Museum in Bolzano to see the legendary Ice Man himself. Just when we thought we were home-free, a coolant line burst on the way back, leaving us with steam raising from the hood! We kept our cool, made a roadside fix, and pushed onward. This video is packed with tips, insights, and a few laughs as we work to keep our Discovery 3 adventure-ready.
