광명시, ‘신천~하안~신림선’ 민자 병행으로 조기 착공 추진

Gwangmyeong City is accelerating the early commencement of construction on a new railway line to alleviate traffic congestion in the southwestern metropolitan area. Regarding the so-called "Sincheon-Haan-Sinlim Line," which connects Siheung in Gyeonggi Province, Haan in Gwangmyeong, and Sinlim in Seoul, the city has officially announced a parallel strategy to pursue both government-funded and private-investment projects simultaneously. With the announcement of the 5th National Railway Network Construction Plan remaining uncertain, the strategy aims to shorten the preliminary feasibility study process and dramatically accelerate the project speed by pursuing the private-investment method alongside the government-funded approach. In particular, the city has secured project feasibility and viability by reorganizing the existing branch line into a core trunk line. Early commencement of construction is expected to significantly improve accessibility to Seoul for residents of Haan-dong and the Gwangmyeong-Siheung new towns, thereby alleviating traffic congestion in the southwestern metropolitan area.
